According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor, in 2012, the average hours per day that a person spends on housework is .54 on weekdays and .74 on weekend days. That’s, on average, 4.18 hours per week for the median sized US home. So, by using that median sized US home as a factor, that figures to be just about 1 3/4 hours per 1000 square feet of home! Doesn’t seem like all that much.
Let’s relate this to our service area and see what those numbers really mean.
We calculate that the average sized home in the areas that Miracle Maids primarily serve is 3300 square feet. Your home may be smaller or larger.
Using this number and the statistics from the US Department of Labor, we estimate that the average homeowner in our primary service area spends a little under 6 hours per week on housework.
Let’s extrapolate. Let’s assume that your home is no less or more clean than the average American home. (I suspect that your standard of clean may be a bit more stringent than that of the average American homeowner)
That means that the average homeowner in our primary service areas spends a little over 300 hours a year doing housework.
Now, According to a “Working Mothers” survey cited in Forbes magazine in October of 2012, here are the top three things that working and stay-at-home moms feel judged about:
1) How clean my house is
2) Not taking care of myself
3) The amount of time I spend with my children
1) My contribution to family finances
2) How clean my house is
3) Not using my education
There is one thing that working moms and stay-at-home moms share in regards to feeling judged: A CLEAN HOUSE !!!
Now you may spend less time or you may spend more time scrubbing toilets, scouring bathroom sinks and polishing fixtures, cleaning and disinfecting showers and tubs, vacuuming carpets, wiping down kitchen counters and appliances, mopping floors, dusting windowsills and wall-hangings, changing bed linen, picking up children’s toys, cleaning stovetops and microwaves, emptying wastebaskets, wiping down cabinets, cleaning and polishing mirrors and a hundred other details.
But the question is: Should you?
For about the price of a round of Saturday golf, a half dozen Pro-V1s, a cheeseburger with fries and a couple of beers, you can have our maid service come in and do all of this for you.
To put this into perspective: According to my calculations (admittedly disputable)
You spend somewhere on the order of 7 ½ workweeks each year cleaning your home.
A wise man once said that there is only one way that all men (and women) are exactly equal. TIME. We all have exactly the same number of hours, minutes and seconds in a day.
What is your time with family worth? What is your personal time worth?

Because Round Rock has a multi-cultural very diverse citizenry, we often find it necessary to customize our cleanings to fit the needs and desires of many lifestyles and cultures.
While a few of our customers are single apartment dwellers (Dell, et al), many more live in larger homes throughout the Round Rock area.
More and more of our customers live in multi-generational homes. Either because of a cultural filial obligation or increasingly because of financial challenges, Grandma and/or Grandpa is now living with a son or daughter.
Whether it’s Oma und Opa, NaiNai he YeYe, Babushka и Dedushka, Abuela y Abuelo,
we are experts at cleaning your home with a minimum of disturbance for Nana or Pops.
Whether it’s a single parent home or a two wage earner home with children and you are still at work while the kids are already home from school, we can handle it. Let them play or do their homework. We’ll work around them.
Do you have dogs or cats? We are a pet friendly cleaning service. In fact, almost all of us have pets of our own. So don’t worry about Harry (my dog’s name) or Tabby. They will be fine with us.
And remember, for recurring cleanings, if you leave clean sheets and pillowcases out for our maids, we will change your bed linen when we clean your home.
At Miracle Maids, we know that we are in a service business. We are here to serve you. Thank you for your business!
